Thomas Beschorner, born 1970, received vocational training as a sales manager after graduating from school and studied economics at the University of Kassel (Germany) and the National University of Ireland; 2001 PhD at Max-Weber-Kolleg für kultur- und sozialwissenschaftliche Studien, University of Erfurt (Germany); several research and teaching positions in Canada; 2002-2007 project lead of the research group 'Societal learning and sustainability' (GELENA), University of Oldenburg; Habilitation in Oldenburg 2007; 2004-2006 member of the junior researchers' network at the Center for Iinterdisciplinary Research (ZiF), University of Bielefeld; 2005-2006 Visiting Professor, McGill University, Montréal; 2007-2009 DAAD Professor, Université de Montréal; since 2009: Professeur Associé at CCEAE, Université de Montréal.
Thomas Beschorner is the founder and co-editor of the 'Journal for Business, Economics and Ethics' (Rainer-Hampp-Verlag) as well as 'CSR NEWS' and 'CSR MAGAZIN' (in cooperation with Achim Halfmann). Furthermore, he is the editor of the book series 'Ethik und Ökonomie' (Metropolis-Verlag). In cooperation with Matthias Schmidt, he is the founder and director of the Consulting-Akademie Unternehmensethik and the Transatlantic Doctoral Academy on Corporate Responsibility (TADA).
Beschorner received the 2002 'Wissenschaftspreis für Wirtschaftsethik der Plansecur-Stiftung' award for his dissertation. In 2006, he received the annual teaching award of the University of Oldenburg.
