Events The Institute for Business Ethics at University of St.Gallen is happy to announce the launch of the new IWE-HSG Competence Center for African Research (CCAR). CCAR was officially opened with a scholarly symposium on January 14th-15th, 2020. The event took place at the magnificent Kantonsratssaal in St.Gallen. The CCAR launch symposium was focusing on ethics, technology and Africa. Particular emphasis was put on the potentials and risks of Artificial Intelligence and new Information- and Communication Technologies for the African continent. The symposium featured keynote speakers, roundtables, and discussants of various disciplines and aimed at kick-starting a fruitful intercontinental discourse and network between scholars in Switzerland and on the African Continent. The symposium offered a platform for cutting-edge contributions particularly of young African researchers and activists. We were delighted to welcome many interested participants of various backgrounds at our CCAR launch symposium. A list of participants, including short biographies, as well as the abstracts of the various contributions are available in the complete CCAR launch symposium brochure. A report on the CCAR launch symposium is available here.
