Isabel Laura Ebert Isabel Laura Ebert is a Research Assistant at the Institute for Business Ethics. Isabel Laura Ebert is a research associate at the research project “"Big Brother" in Swiss companies? Trust, data and personal privacy of employees”. The research project is lead jointly by the Institute for Work and Employment Research and the Institute for Business Ethics, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. Isabel Ebert is currently seeking a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Florian Wettstein at the Institute for Business Ethics under joint supervision with Prof. Gina Neff (Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford). Her research focusses on ethical questions regarding data disclosure by companies to governments. As of October 2019 Isabel will be conducting a research stay as a recognized DPhil student at the Oxford Internet Institute (OII), University of Oxford, under the supervision of Prof. Gina Neff (OII). Her PhD will explore which steps companies have identified to respond to government requests for data disclosure, and which steps are needed for improved company conduct. It will develop guidelines about necessary steps for implementing an ethical managerial practice to respond to such requests, touching upon main obstacles and success stories. Isabel Ebert has been leading the work on Germany, Austria and Switzerland since 2014 and since 2016 for the Western Europe area for the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre based in London. Prior to this, Isabel gained first work experiences at the German Mission in South Africa, the Governing Mayor of Berlin, the Goethe Institute New York, and at a consultancy in Development Cooperation and Health. She holds a MA in International Relations, Peace and Conflict Studies from Goethe University Frankfurt and a BA in Politics and Management from University of Konstanz and Sciences Po Paris. Her academic research project focussed on the Kiobel and Apartheid litigation cases in the US under the Alien Torts Claim Act (MA thesis, Goethe-University of Frankfurt). Isabel Ebert is Chairwoman of the Advisory Board of the Data Science & Tech Club at the University of St. Gallen and the former president of the club.
