Competence Center for African Research

About the Competence Center for African Research

The Competence Center for African Research (CCAR) strives to build a unique research profile on issues at the intersection of business, ethics and governance in relation to the African continent.

The goal of CCAR is to support, promote and coordinate research and teaching with a focus on Africa at the University of St.Gallen.

The CCAR was officially launched on January 14 and 15, 2020 during a scientific symposium - the CCAR-HSG Symposium - in the Cantonal Council Hall of St.Gallen.

CCAR works in close institutional collaboration with the Ethics and Public Policy Laboratory (EthicsLab) in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The partnership between the two centers aims to develop collaboration opportunities in research and teaching between the University of St.Gallen and the Catholic University of Central Africa in Cameroon.

The launch of the EthicsLab in Yaoundé, Cameroon, was celebrated by CCAR from March 19-23, 2019, and annual conferences and symposia have been held since then.
