Ilaria is a PhD candidate in "Economics and Management of Sustainability and Innovation" at the LUM - Libera Università Mediterranea, Casamassima (Bari) in Italy. Her research areas are: Business, management and accounting, her research themes are: Sustainability disclosure and ESG ratings; Business ethics and human rights.
"Throughout my PhD, I have been deeply interested in the intersection of human rights and business ethics. These topics have always fascinated me, particularly concerning corporate responsibility and the evolving regulatory landscape. When it came time to define the focus of my thesis, I decided to explore how human rights considerations, specifically human rights due diligence, have been evolving within the global and European context, thus affecting the behaviour of companies.
Given his extensive experience in this field, I reached out to Professor Wettstein, Professor of Business Ethics at the University of St. Gallen. That decision has brought me here, and I am excited to immerse myself in this academic environment."
"I see it as an invaluable opportunity to deepen my understanding of business and human rights, particularly in the context of corporate accountability and sustainability. Beyond strengthening my theoretical knowledge, I also hope to refine my academic writing and analytical skills, as well as engage with scholars who share similar research interests.
Moreover, being part of such a dynamic academic community will allow me to exchange ideas, receive constructive feedback, and gain new perspectives on my research."
